Dear Subscriber:
Each week we examine a theme from a variety of points of
view. The theme for this week as we enter the holiday season is Happy Holidays.
I welcome comments on my poems at http://nicholasgordon.blogspot.com
.
A Happy Holidays poem about the necessary and sometimes
stressful joy of celebrating the holidays with family:
Here we go again – a holiday
As happy as the last, which is to say
Pleasant in the memory and making,
Perhaps a bit more stressful in the taking,
Yet all in all a necessary joy.
How might we otherwise such grace employ,
Opening on schedule our hearts,
Long absent from the place where longing starts,
In love and trembling once again with those
Deep down enough to go where none else goes.
Ah! Now we are again as we must be,
Yielding to a rich complexity,
Standing where the fount of
selfhood flows.
