Dear Subscriber:
Each week we examine a theme from a variety of points of
view. The theme for this week is The Gifts of Life, in honor of Thanksgiving,
which this year is celebrated on Thursday, November 28.
I welcome comments on my poems at
http://nicholasgordon.blogspot.com .
A philosophical number poem about the effort needed to
sustain one’s gifts:
Fulfillment is a song that one
must sing
Or bear the sullen silence of the
heart.
Remember: Love of life
requires music,
The joy one dances to throughout
the day,
Yearning for
the gifts one has sustained.
Every gift is one that one must
bring
Into one’s
daily life with skill and art,
Giver and receiver both, or lose
it,
Having lost a few along the way,
Though treasuring still the ones one has retained.
