Dear Subscriber:
Each week we examine a theme from a variety of points of
view. The theme for this week is anniversaries.
I welcome comments on my poems at https://nicholasgordon.blogspot.com
.
A 25th anniversary poem for a farm couple who has
stayed true to each other through a hard life:
Twenty-five years on the farm
Will drain the strength out of
Every loud, shrill false alarm
Near drowned out by love.
Through years of hot, dry winds, and through
Years of steady rain,
Fortune has been good to you
In reaping what remains.
For you have kept your first love true
Through much hard work and pain,
Here now to choose again.
