Though Winter Come, Thy Will Be Done

January 15, 2019

Dear Subscriber:

Each week we examine a theme from a variety of points of view. The theme for this week is winter, both as a subject and a symbol.

I welcome comments on my poems at https://nicholasgordon.blogspot.com .

A poem in which winter is a metaphor for death:

Though winter come, thy will be done,
For time must have an end,
And death must serve the wanderer
Who worships but the wind.

The being of a being is
Beyond all space and time.
And yet . . . and yet each being is
A moment with a name.

Ah, wanderer! Do not fear
The loss of joy and pain.
For nothingness is nothing less
Than never having been.
