Dear Subscriber:
Each week we examine a theme from a variety of points of
view. The theme for this week is trees, in honor of Arbor Day, which falls on
April 29.
Today’s poem is a name poem comparing a young man to a
sheltering tree.
I welcome comments on my poems at http://nicholasgordon.blogspot.com.
Yours,
Nick Gordon
Ashley stands slender on a hill,
Sheltering all sorts of bright-eyed things.
He spreads his youthful arms like angel's wings,
Luring the wind to rustle through his hair.
Easily, he bends through turbulent air,
Yielding when he must, yet upright still.
