Enduring does not lead to happiness.
A person ought not suffer out of duty.
Some choose to sacrifice under duress,
Taking as cruel chance what could be beauty.
Each ought to give for love, as did the Lord,
Reckoning the grace as the reward.

Even as the Earth turns into Spring,
Angling its torso towards the sun,
So like birds our hearts begin to sing,
Touched by time as tides by moonlight run,
Ebbing as faith faces the long night,
Returning with the laughter and the light.

Each of us must know You personally --
As friend or father, counselor, mentor, guide --
Someone we invite to come inside
That we might be Your witness literally,
Even of ourselves, though we may die,
Resurrected only eye-to-eye.
